Toddler snack sold at Costco, Target, Walmart recalled over potentially deadly hazard — Winnetka Health news

A toddler snack sold by several major retailers was recalled because of a potentially deadly hazard, according to the Food and Drug Administration. All flavors, quantities and varieties of Once Upon A Farm s Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft Baked-Bars were recalled after the FDA received several reports of toddlers suffering complete airway obstruction with the inability to breathe after consuming the product, an alert on the agency s website states. When chewed, the product reportedly forms a dry, sticky mass that standard choking interventions — including back blows and the Heimlich maneuver — may fail to dislodge, the recall alert states. Some reported choking incidents have required emergency response intervention and hospital observation. The snack is sold nationwide at stores that include Costco, Target and Walmart, and online at retailers including Amazon. The FDA advised anyone with the snack to immediately throw it away.
